Škofja Loka Mix

For many years begging was considered to be an occupation in Škofja Loka, and for this reason only persons that were entered on the beggar’s list were allowed to beg. So beggars in Loka were allowed every Friday to visit bars, shops and apartments, and after the »finished work« they gathered by the Capuchin monastery where friar the cook gave them the Škofja Loka mix and a piece of black bread to every one. Although the mix was a beggar’s dish, the townspeople also liked to eat it, they only dressed it more richly. For you we also additionally enriched the dish prepared from cabbage, turnip, beans and barley with pieces of Carniolan sausage or smoked meat, which are excellent with the basic dish.
